MODEL HISTORY & PRODUCTION
Porsche’s long-running and much-loved 911 Sports Car first appeared at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show in prototype form, the 901 (later to become the 911, following Peugeot's complaints about the use of '0' model numbers) It was Porsche’s first entirely new model since the 356 had been launched in 1948.

The early Porsche 911T saw many different variations throughout its long history. The Porsche 911T A & B series rand from 1967 to 1968, while the C & D series ran from 1969 to 1970, the E series in 1972 and the F series in 1973.

The 1969 model year marked the first major changes to Porsche’s well-received short wheel base 911. The wheelbase was stretched an additional 2.4 inches, greatly enhancing the car’s handling characteristics. The wings were slightly flared to accommodate larger wheels and tyres, and the interior heating and cooling system were improved. With the introduction of this "C" series three models were offered, the 2,195cc 911T (Touring) with Weber carburettors and 911E and 911S models with fuel injection. A total of 3,561 Porsche T Coupes were built by Karmann at Osnabruck.
