Description

Few sports cars can claim the enduring legacy of the Porsche 911. Introduced in 1964, the 911 quickly established itself as the benchmark for precision engineering, timeless design, and motorsport success. In 1984, Porsche reintroduced the revered Carrera nameplate, first made famous in the 1950s, to signify a return to performance-focused, naturally aspirated excellence. The result was the legendary 3.2-liter Carrera, widely regarded as one of the most durable, engaging, and collectible air-cooled 911s ever produced.

This 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe is a superb example, finished in the elegant and rarely seen Iris Blue Metallic over a Dark Blue leather interior. Notably, the car has remained Texas-owned since new, passing through just five caretakers and benefiting from a dry climate its entire life.

Power comes from its original 3.2-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, paired to the engaging 5-speed manual transmission, delivering the mechanical purity that defines the classic 911 driving experience. The car is well equipped with desirable factory features, including:
• Factory air conditioning (converted to R134a)
• 16" Fuchs alloy wheels
• Power sunroof
• Power windows
• Power height-adjustable front seats
• Leather-wrapped steering wheel with raised hub
• Cruise control
• Fog lamps
• Electric dash clock
• Porsche "whale tail" decklid spoiler

Mechanical care has been thorough and well documented. The 915 transmission was professionally rebuilt by Momentum Motors of Houston, Texas in May 1994, receiving a new 1st gear, 1–2 slider, 1–2 synchros, along with a fresh clutch assembly. After long-term storage by the fourth owner of over 20 years in Keller, TX, aging paint prompted a professional repaint in 2014, at which time the car also received new interior carpet and upholstery under subsequent ownership.

That same year, servicing was entrusted to Zim's Autotechnik, including a valve adjustment, valve cover gaskets, Swepco premium gear oil, and Brad Penn 20W-50 engine oil with new filter. More recently, in late 2025, the car was treated to new brake hoses, new rotors and pads, rebuilt brake calipers, a complete brake fluid flush, new shifter bushings, and brand-new Hankook Ventus V2 Concept all-season performance tires.

The air conditioning system was converted to R134a in 2021 and fully serviced again in January 2026, blowing cold and operating exactly as intended.

Importantly, this Carrera remains rust-free, structurally solid, and accident-free, reflecting careful ownership throughout its life. On the road, it performs exactly as a well-sorted 3.2 Carrera should, no smoke on startup, strong and responsive power delivery, precise shifting, and confidence-inspiring braking.

The sale will include original window sticker, original owner's manual with cover, delivery checklist by Gulla/Hass Porsche Audi Imports of Houston, TX, and service records dating back to 1989. It should be noted that an odometer replacement took place in the mid 2000's, so this vehicle will be sold "mileage exempt" for this reason. This 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe represents a rare opportunity to acquire a thoughtfully maintained, mechanically sorted air-cooled 911 that is ready to be driven and enjoyed immediately, an ideal choice for the enthusiast seeking authenticity, reliability, and timeless Porsche character.
