Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at Supercar Fest 2025 on Saturday the 17th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN. The Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 SuperSport, often referred to as the 'Turbo-look' or SSE (SuperSport Equipment), represents one of the most desirable variants of the iconic 911 from the 1980s.
It was developed in response to customer demand for a naturally aspirated 911 that retained the wider stance and dynamic presence of the Turbo and consequently, the SuperSport offered the best of both worlds, the robust reliability of the 3.2-litre flat-six and the visual drama of the 930.
Introduced in 1984 and built through to 1989, initially under the Special Wishes Programme (Sonderwunsch), the SSE became a factory option (code M491) due to customer demand. It was available in Coupé, Targa, and Cabriolet forms and in the UK was officially known as the SuperSport, distinguishing it from other markets that used the term Turbo-look. It cost the buyer significantly more than a standard Carrera 3.2, often exceeding the price of a 930 Turbo.
Presented for auction at Supercar Fest 2025 is this 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 SuperSport with just under 6,200 miles from new at the time of cataloguing. It's the most highly sought after model from the final year of production featuring the later G50 gearbox and presenting in pristine condition in most likely a one-off colour combination. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity in the history file confirms that this SuperSport was manufactured in February 1989 and first registered in March of the same year. It was supplied by Porsche Centre Swinford in Stone Grey Metallic (U8U8) with linen/Burgundy leatherette and linen leather inlays. Optional extras included a Blaupunkt Toronto Radio Cassette with a high-fidelity 8-speaker system and amplifier, SuperSport equipment, electric adjustable sports seats, rear seat belts, sunshine roof and a rear wiper.
It's accompanied by history file including the original book pack, with original service book stamped up to date, Porsche COA, numerous old MOT certificates, servicing invoices supporting the service book entries, current V5C registration document and three spare keys including red 'valet' key. The most recent service was completed by a well regarded classic Porsche specialist in April 2024 at 6,043 miles.
This collector-grade end of production 911 SuperSport is offered to auction with a new MOT, a clear HPI report and its engine number verified as matching the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Representing a truly unrepeatable opportunity, this immaculate, ultra-low mileage, low owners example combines unquestionable provenance, a unique factory specification and virtually flawless presentation. An iconic 911 in every respect, it is ideally suited to a serious collector or discerning enthusiast seeking one of the finest surviving examples of the celebrated air-cooled era.
