The limited edition Boxster S 550 Spyder was introduced in late 2003 to celebrate 50 years since the production of the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder. Production was limited to 1,953 units worldwide, each with a numbered plaque. UK RHD production was approximately 150 units, making this a very rare limited edition model.
All 550 Spyders were produced in exclusive GT Silver metallic paint, the same color used for the Carrera GT, and not available on any other 986 Boxster model. The interiors were finished in extended Cocoa Brown leather with a matching brown hood as standard, with a grey/black hood as a no-cost option. The car was available with either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed auto Tiptronic transmission.
