After the Cayenne suv, now the big five-door coupe Panamera also yields to turbodiesel. Some purists will turn up their noses. However, it must be said that the Panamera is not a pure sports car, like the 911. And besides, not all customers of the German brand get excited listening to that addictive roar that only the gasoline engine can give, preferably with six or eight cylinders, and feel fully satisfied only when they see the needle of the tachometer splash past six, seven thousand revolutions. There are also those who prefer to enjoy the five-star ride comfort, appreciating the muffled and luxurious atmosphere that cars like the Porsche Panamera can offer. Perhaps, without constant, annoying stops to refuel.
And in fact, the Panamera³'s 250-hp 3.0 V6 turbodiesel, the same one that powers the Cayenne, Audi Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg, is extremely quiet (you don³'t hear the usual, annoying diesel mumbling), and it never disturbs the quiet that reigns in the cabin, even when you squeeze it into sporty driving.
Most impressive, however, is the formidable torque of which the 3.0 diesel is capable. The 550 Nm available between 1750 and 2750 rpm mean that the engine is extremely quick in its response to the controls, with a pull and progressiveness that is not inconsiderable. Even at low revs, pressing hard on the accelerator pedal feels like you are pressed against the back of the seat, with good thrust all the way past 4,000 rpm. Of course, it lacks the elongation that gasoline engines are capable of, yet the Panamera Diesel proves suitable even for moderately sporty use. Especially since at the level of steering, brakes and suspension, the tradition of the brand is respected. The road holding and the precision with which trajectories are set are true sports car. The eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission (standard) also performs well. It does not have the speed of the dual-clutch PDK (available on the other versions), but it is distinguished by its smooth clutches; and in sporty use, using the two levers behind the steering wheel, it also knows how to entertain.
The car is really well maintained and has no notable defects. Maintenance turns out to be punctual and regular, and the miles are certified.
