Designed and built by Alpine at their Dieppe factory on the Normandy coast, the Renault 5 Alpine Turbo, badged as the Gordini Turbo in the UK, was named in honor of Amédée Gordini, Renault’s legendary performance tuner. With only approximately 13 known survivors currently registered in the UK, this model has become one of the rarest of its period.
First registered in July 1984, this Gordini Turbo had covered 69,700 miles at the time of cataloging. The silver (Argent) exterior is complemented by red coachlines and bespoke Gordini Turbo alloys. The predominantly mustard-colored interior is original and tidy.
Recent maintenance includes a rebuilt carburettor, new rear suspension mounts, and an engine rebuild in 2001 by Salv Sacco, a Renault competition specialist. The gearbox has been rebuilt, a new Garrett turbocharger installed from Turbo Technics, and a pre-heat system added to aid cold starts.
The car is supplied with the Bill of Sale from 1984, MOT certificates, a detailed history file with numerous receipts and invoices, both keys, the original handbook, toolkit, and a matching Gordini alloy spare wheel.
