Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026 on Saturday the 16th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN.
This Renault 5 GT Turbo Raider is one of the final special-edition examples produced to mark the end of the model’s production run, and is finished in the Raider’s signature Sports Blue (PR449) paintwork with the correct factory interior trim
Showing 98,000 miles from new, it remains in notably original standard specification, something increasingly uncommon among surviving GT Turbos, many of which were modified during their earlier lives
The car has been in the current ownership since 2003 and has had just three previous keepers, reflecting long-term enthusiast ownership over the last two decades
Offered for sale as the vendor has now relocated to the USA, the car has been retained as part of a private collection and carefully stored during recent years
It has spent the last six years in storage and, although structurally the car is understood to be sound, a degree of recommissioning should be expected before returning it to regular road use
The bodywork and overall presentation remain good, with the car retaining an honest and unspoilt appearance that would respond well to sympathetic detailing and light cosmetic attention
Mechanically, it is described as a fundamentally solid example that would benefit from thoughtful tinkering and routine recommissioning after its period off the road
With standard examples of the Raider becoming increasingly difficult to find, this is an appealing opportunity to acquire one of the most recognisable hot hatches of its era in largely original form
Combining rarity, originality and long-term ownership, this Renault 5 GT Turbo Raider offers an increasingly scarce basis for either careful preservation or light recommissioning for the road
