I'm selling "Clementine," my 1972 Renault 16TS, Portuguese-assembled at ILR Guarda.
I've owned it since December 2018 and have covered nearly 15,000 kilometers, including two "ACP 500 Miles" editions, without any major issues.
It clearly needs:
- a body restoration; it has some rust, especially on the right passenger side (floor)
- a paint job
- a carburetor overhaul; idle is very doesn't drop below 1,400 rpm
- a clutch overhaul; a "groaning" noise when you press the pedal
- an electrical inspection
- a radio; I've never replaced it... it's pretty ugly and doesn't work well.
- For purists, you'll need to remove the rear window washer and the right rearview mirror (it mimics a TX...)
Strong points:
- Ready to drive as is, MOT valid until February 2026
- €2,000 spent in 2023, rear suspension mounts redone
- 5-speed gearbox, reducing noise and fuel consumption
- New tires (2,500 km)
- Reliable mechanics (engine, suspension, brakes)
