The Rolls Royce Corniche (a French term for a road that runs along the edge of a cliff) is a model derived from the 1965 Silver Shadow sedan in coupe and convertible versions, both two-door, introduced to the market in 1971. Compared to the original model, whose mechanicals and floorpan it retained, the line was completely redesigned, taking up, especially in the front end, the styling concepts expressed by the sedans. Decidedly different, however, was the course of the flanks and tail, as well as the lowered headliner. The only sheet metal in common between the Silver Shadow and the Corniche, was the aluminum engine hood. Initially, the Corniche was fitted with the manufacturer's standard 8V engine and a 3-speed automatic transmission. The self-levelling rear suspension included a high-pressure system built under license from Citroen. Disc brakes only on the front wheels then extended to the rear wheels. The second series, the subject of this expertise was introduced in 1986 and produced until 1989. There were few changes from the first series, which mainly concerned the upholstery and instrumentation. This car, popular at the time among celebrities, was produced in four series until 1995, when the last 25 examples were delivered in the turbocharged version alone. The Rolls Royce Corniche, after years of near immobility on the market, has seen a steady revaluation in recent years
