Description

“Strive for perfection in everything. Take the best that exists and make it better. If it doesn’t exist, create it. Accept nothing nearly right or good enough.” – Henry Royce

The Rolls-Royce Phantom – affectionately known among enthusiasts as “The 7”. This was the very first Rolls-Royce to be fully developed under BMW’s stewardship. In 1998, Rolls-Royce, along with Bentley, was sold to the Volkswagen Group. However, the rights to the name ‘Rolls-Royce’ were held by Rolls-Royce Aerospace, which in turn transferred them to BMW.

The 7 shares about 15% of its components with the BMW range. And honestly? A perfect combination, if you ask us: BMW’s finest engineering, wrapped in the style and grace of British aristocracy. For the launch of the Phantom, BMW established an entirely separate dealership network. They wanted to avoid at all costs what happened to Mercedes with the Maybach – which was ultimately seen as a luxury Mercedes. That fate did not befall the Phantom.

The Phantom Drophead is equipped with a 6,750 cc powerplant – a nod to classic Rolls-Royce models. This time, it's a 12-cylinder BMW engine, delivering 460 Holsteiners. What you're driving is not a car – it’s a land yacht. And although it feels like you’re being chauffeured, driving it yourself remains the real pleasure.

And ours? This particular lady was originally delivered by the Rolls-Royce dealer in Overijse, Belgium. She received her maintenance there until 2016, when a Dutch owner took over the wheel. Service stamps from Cito Motors and Veerman are neatly documented in the book.

Finished in Black Diamond Metallic, with a Crème Light interior, brushed steel packages, and various extras from the Special Equipment Programme. Everything fits. Everything shines.

A moving yacht on four wheels. Ready for its next owner. Someone who understands her value, recognises her class, and is ready to take her on new journeys.

Curious what that takes? Get in touch.
