Description

Rolls Royce Silver Wraith 1947 for saleThe Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith, introduced in 1946, was the company's first post-war model. Produced until 1958, the Silver Wraith was available solely as a chassis, allowing customers to commission bespoke coachwork from renowned coachbuilders such as Hooper and H.J. Mulliner. Built at Rolls-Royce's Crewe factory, the Silver Wraith featured advancements such as independent front suspension, centralized chassis lubrication, and a refined six-cylinder engine with an F-head configuration. Initially offered with a 4.3-liter engine, the displacement was progressively increased over the years, culminating in a 4.9-liter version.Exterior: The exterior of this Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith is painted in an elegant silver over black. The car's beautiful body is handcrafted by the renowned coachwork company HJ Mulliner and is made entirely of aluminum. This car should not be compared or mistaken for a Silver Dawn, a model from the standard steel production line when Rolls-Royce produced their own bodies. This Silver Wraith comes from an era when Rolls-Royce produced the chassis and mechanics, allowing owners to choose their preferred coachbuilder for the bodywork. The exterior condition of this Silver Wraith is excellent. The paint job is of high quality, and the body is nice and straight. Aluminum bodies can often appear wavy due to their large flat surfaces, but this one maintains a sleek finish. The chrome parts of the exterior are also in good condition, and the panel gaps are well-aligned. The doors close smoothly and effortlessly, which can sometimes be an issue with these cars due to the wooden framework of the doors.Interior: The interior of this Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith is truly amazing. Sitting in the back seat of this car is the closest experience to being in your living room that you can have in an automobile. The wood, the tray tables, the electric divider window to the front row, the lambswool carpet, and of course, the makeup mirrors with ashtrays – all contribute to an atmosphere of luxury. The quality of the interior restoration is exceptional. Proper Connolly leather has been used, fitting perfectly and demonstrating incredible attention to detail, especially on elements such as the door cards. The headliner is also in excellent condition, as is all of the interior wood paneling. The finish is impeccable – not too shiny and not too matte. It is also important to note that this is a particularly luxurious version of the Silver Wraith, featuring extra spacious rear seats and a wood and glass divider separating the driver. This was not a standard feature on all Silver Wraith models.Engine and Mechanics: The engine of this Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith, a 4.3-liter inline-six, runs beautifully. It starts easily, runs smoothly, and is exceptionally quiet thanks to the high-quality original exhaust system. The four-speed gearbox is also nice and smooth to shift. However, mechanically, the car is not flawless and requires a few minor adjustments to achieve optimal performance. This is primarily due to the fact that the car has not been driven much since its restoration.History: This Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith was originally sold in the U.K. to a Mr. Okin. It remained in the U.K. until 1988, when it was exported to Sweden. The Swedish owner and a close friend enjoyed many adventures with the car, including a trip to Paris. Around 15 years ago, they began the process of fully restoring the vehicle. Unfortunately, before the restoration was completed, one of the two friends sadly passed away. Although the restoration was finished, the owner no longer wished to use the car without his friend, and it was left standing in his garage. If you live in Sweden and would like to sell your classic BMW, please let us know here. Models like E30, E24, E36, E46, Z3 M and Z4 M.
