Description

The Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II was introduced in 1977 as the longest and most formal variant within the second generation of the Silver Shadow family. The model remained in production until 1980 and was intended as a chauffeur-driven car with extra legroom for rear passengers. Technically, the Silver Wraith II shared its basic structure, suspension, and powertrain with other models in this series, but the longer wheelbase gave it a distinctly unique character.

Built during a period when Rolls-Royce focused on traditional luxury and comfort, the Silver Wraith II featured more modern body construction and technology compared to pre-war and immediate post-war models. The Silver Wraith name had previously been used for the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith from 1946 to 1959, making its reintroduction in 1977 a nod to history. Production remained limited compared to the more common Silver Shadow variants, making this model rarer.

In 1979, the Silver Wraith II emphasized formal proportions and rear-passenger comfort. The long-wheelbase version was considered the most prestigious in the lineup, appealing to the traditional luxury limousine market.

The Silver Wraith II is distinguished by its extended wheelbase, giving it proportions different from the standard Silver Shadow. It features trim elements that highlight its chauffeur-driven character, with a formal presentation and rear-seat-focused layout. This model most closely aligns with the classic image of a Rolls-Royce, emphasizing rear passenger luxury.

This 1979 example is in running condition. The original Rolls-Royce build sheet is included. The car is registered in the Netherlands. These details make the Silver Wraith II a distinctive and limited-production vehicle.

Technically, the Silver Wraith II follows the tradition of later Rolls-Royce models with a monocoque body and a luxurious interior, consistent with the Silver Shadow generation. Its long wheelbase and design ensure it holds a unique place in Rolls-Royce history as a manufacturer of prestigious luxury vehicles.

The 1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II is a rare, long-wheelbase variant within the second generation of the Silver Shadow series. It is in running condition, registered in the Netherlands, and comes with the original build sheet. For a better understanding of the lot, attending the viewing day is recommended.
