Description

motodrome offer this very special classic Mini -a 1999 Rover Mini John Cooper Works S Touring Sportspack, finished in the original Solar Red with White roof, and black leather interior with cream piping.

This one is an original John Cooper Garages supplied example, not a later conversion, and is build number 99-S-162.

Based on the standard Rover Mini Cooper 1.3MPi, John Cooper Garages managed to extract 90bhp from the engine, combined with 20% extra torque, making these possibly the quickest A-series powered classic Mini with factory provenance.

This one was fitted from new with the Sports pack ie 13in alloys under wide arches, and uprated shock absorbers.

The John Cooper options list was extensive, but the original owner opted only for the full black leather option (with embossed Mini Cooper logos), extra gauges, quick shift gearbox option, twin exit stainless exhaust, alloy door furniture, locking alloy fuel cap, John Cooper etched door tread plates, and alloy dipstick

Odometer reading 75000 miles.

We last sold this lovely and very collectible Cooper in early 2023, having acquired it from a long-term owner who’d had it since 2008. He commissioned a restoration in 2016 with new panelwork including
• New door skins
• New front wings
• New front panel
• Both apex panels
• Scuttle panel
• Both closing panels
• Both door steps
• Both sills
Followed by a good respray in the original Solar Red

We’re told the engine was rebuilt and the vehicle waxoyled as part of the restoration.

As above, we sold it in early 2023 to a local enthusiast for it to become part of his collection. He’s kept it beautifully, always garaged it, and covered no more than 600 miles in it, but has had it serviced with new oil and filter yearly since then, the last at 74800m earlier this year.

In the period it was with us in early 2023, we carried out the following work: new heater matrix and inlet pipes, new thermostat, new coolant hoses, new front ball joints, new auxiliary drive belt, new brake and clutch fluid, new KAD quick shift gear selector mechanism, and full service.

History-wise, we have the original book pack including the original service book with 12 stamps in it, a file full of bills, John Cooper Garages correspondence including the original sales invoice, price lists and S touring promotional paperwork. We also have 2 keys and immobiliser fobs.

It's MOT'd to May 2027, and will come with 6M warranty on sale.

It looks great, sounds superb, and is guaranteed to put a smile on it’s driver’s face…
