Manufacturer: Carrosso Classic & Sportscars Eekstraat 2 8375HN OLDEMARKT, NL 0625351515 http://www.carrosso.com [email protected] below for information in EnglishTriumph TR6 Overdrive Roadster 1970- Professionally body-off restored- Never welded, original sheet metal- Engine and transmission rebuilt- Off-white paint with black vinyl leather interior- Fitted with modern seats with headrests and seatbelts; original seats included- Many technical upgrades- Stainless steel exhaust and 123 ignition- Additional matching trunk lid without rack- Extensive documentation available (manuals, history, and maintenance invoices)HISTORY/DOCUMENTATIONLike most examples, this Triumph TR6 was delivered new to the sunny climate of the United States by British Leyland Motors San Francisco on January 20, 1970. In 2010, it was exported from California to the Netherlands, where the current owner has extensively and professionally restored the car. It is likely that the Triumph never left California, as no welding work was required on the car: this is a very solid and rust-free car with excellent fit and finish of the body panels. The Triumph comes with a folder full of documentation, including manuals, maintenance invoices, registration papers, and even the original American manual. The Heritage Trust certificate reflects the car’s original status and delivery history. In 2022, the TR6 was appraised at a value of €34,000 and verified as Quality Class 1; “excellent professionally restored condition.” The car is equipped with Overdrive (a type of 5th gear). Triumph enthusiasts may recognize this example from the photo of the car used on the cover of Triumph Tribune magazine (2023). EXTERIORTruly a sight to behold: the beautiful lines of the TR6 in its lovely off-white color (painted in 2019). Both the paintwork and the chrome, rubber trim, and lighting are in very good and fresh condition. The black vinyl soft top is in good condition and can be stored under a small or large tonneau cover. Lucas fog lights are mounted at the front. Plastic protective covers are fitted in the fenders to prevent dirt buildup. A luggage rack is mounted at the rear. The original trunk lid without the luggage rack is included with the car. The car’s bodywork is original, damage-free, and the fitment is precise. Beautiful 15-inch Minilite alloy wheels are fitted, finished in black. The tires still have sufficient tread. INTERIORThe interior is in good condition and features several upgrades. These include comfortable Mazda MX5 seats with headrests. The original faux-leather seats are included with the car and are also in good condition with no tears. The dashboard is beautifully finished with cherry wood trim. The door panels are covered in black vinyl. The Smiths gauges have been calibrated and function properly. The interior features factory-installed and optional heating, a laminated windshield, and a steering wheel lock. Later additions include 3-point seat belts, additional charging ports (USB and 12V), and a main power switch. An additional steering wheel lock (anti-theft) is also included. The trunk is tidy and offers space for the spare tire under the double floor. The original jack is also present.TECHNICAL The Triumph has also undergone a thorough technical overhaul: the original engine, transmission with J-type overdrive, and differential have been rebuilt. The cylinder head has been lead-free treated, and the compression ratio has been brought up to European standards by resurfacing the head. Additionally, a 123 ignition system has been installed in the standard housing. A high-torque starter motor, Sachs clutch, aluminum radiator, modern air filter next to the radiator (washable), and a stainless steel (sport) exhaust have been installed. This produces a beautiful sound from the 2498 cc 6-cylinder inline engine. The engine bay is clean and a sight to behold: it is clear that no expense or effort has been spared here. The chassis is damage-free and, as far as can be seen, has never been welded. Photos of the attractive underside can be seen in our photo report. Extensive documentation of the restoration and engine overhaul is available. The brake discs have been replaced with upgraded versions, and Hawk brake pads have been installed. The handbrake mechanism has been improved, and silicone brake fluid has been installed. Adjustable GAZ shock absorbers have been fitted at the front. At the rear, the shock absorbers are part of a Bastuck conversion kit and feature Koni dampers. The car drives fantastically: starting, shifting, and braking are all exceptionally smooth and function perfectly.GENERALThe Triumph TR6 is a sports car produced by the British automaker Triumph from 1968 to 1976. It was the successor to the Triumph TR5 and was produced as a convertible with a folding roof. The TR6 was a popular car due to its sporty appearance, good performance, and relatively affordable price. The car was powered by a 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine. The TR6 was also one of the first cars to feature standard disc brakes on all four wheels. In total, more than 94,000 TR6s were produced, making it one of the best-selling Triumph models ever. Today, the TR6 remains a popular car among collectors and classic car enthusiasts.1970 Triumph TR6 Overdrive Roadster- Professionally restored with the body removed- No welding, original bodywork- Engine and transmission reconditioned- Off-white paintwork with black leatherette interior- Fitted with modern seats with headrests and seatbelts; original seats included- Numerous technical improvements- Stainless steel exhaust and 123 ignition- Comprehensive documentation available (manuals, history, and maintenance invoices)HISTORY/DOCUMENTATIONLike most examples, this Triumph TR6 was delivered new to the sunny climate of the United States, specifically by British Leyland Motors San Francisco on January 20, 1970.
