History
The 400SE was very similar to the last 390SE, with a slightly larger displacement of 3,948 cc (compared to 3,905 cc). The bodywork was based on elements of the 390SE series 2, with a more rounded nose and a large aerodynamic fairing under the body. An asymmetrical engine hood provided the necessary ventilation for the hot engine. Finally, a large spoiler was placed at the rear, smaller in size than the "Bathtray" model used on the 420 SEAC. The look was more advanced than the SEAC version, but both models suffered from a large transmission tunnel that restricted legroom and a bulky radiator that was necessary for the big engine. On the plus side, there was "phenomenal noise" and "exhilarating acceleration.
Ventilated front disc brakes and fifteen-inch wheels were standard, with optional power steering that later became standard.
Description
A surprising and little known car, this TVR has a very strong personality. With its slightly square lines and a front end that looks like a FERRARI front end from afar..., when you start up, you are immediately surprised, it sings loudly. The Range Rover V8 is enchanting and shows its presence, it is loud! it is raging....
On board, one has the impression of being at the wheel of a real sports car that has been equipped with a luxury interior to appeal to the average customer. No, it's a sports car, its extremely wide transmission tunnel takes you away from your passenger and wraps you up to debate with the TVR.
The car has a crazy acceleration and your grin will say a lot about the beast. We had a great time driving this car.
In possession of its history since 2004 and the list of its former owners, the car has been feasting in the Charente at the beginning after a stay in the Paris region. The maintenance is followed and the ease of obtaining mechanical parts gives this car an easy use without any restraints.
Only the exhaust seems to be the most solicited part in replacement with the silents blocks but that can be understood...
In 2011, the car returns to the Paris region, in the Yvelines, and receives a new interior and a new hard top.
The invoices of parts are recorded on England where a mulititude of actors are present for the maintenance and the follow-up of the TVR. So no worries in the use of this car.
The gearbox was serviced in 2012 as well as the front axle.
The windshield is changed in 2013 as well as all the silentblocks of the gearbox.
The car shows only 75 000 km in 2014 for a complete maintenance of its brakes and in 2015 with a big maintenance of the rear axle, the car shows only 78 000 km.
In 2016, it changes owner who is the current one, who will maintain it and will make only 4 000 km until today. The technical control is favorable, the car is in normal registration.
Our opinion
Vehicle maintained, invoices in support, very rare vehicle, 6 copies left-hand drive!
