Description

When Aston Martin unveiled the DB6 at the 1965 London Motor Show, it was clear that this model had been improved in almost every respect compared to its predecessor, the DB5. With minor structural modifications, the DB6 reached top speeds of up to 240 km/h, and a car magazine recorded 0-60 mph in just 7.1 seconds. These performance figures remain impressive today.

The DB6’s body underwent extensive wind tunnel testing to improve stability at high speeds and in crosswinds. It features a streamlined rear and modifications to the rear axle, resulting in enhanced performance and increased interior space. The rear cabin is considerably larger, allowing four adults to travel comfortably even at higher speeds. Despite these updates, the DB6 still closely resembles the iconic Aston Martin DB5, often mistaken for it in showrooms—a compliment we believe.

This DB6 is a highly desirable example, featuring the rare and sought-after manual transmission with which it was originally delivered. It is equipped with a 3.73:1 rear axle ratio and is an original factory Vantage with matching numbers. The car retains its original factory color scheme of Dubonnet red with Natural Brown leather upholstery, making it an exceptionally rare find.

Based on extensive documentation, including various invoices, this Aston Martin was delivered on April 7, 1966, by Cyril Williams Motors. It has undergone a partial restoration that was professionally executed to a high standard, with a focus on preserving its authentic appearance. Since then, it has been well maintained, and the condition of this vintage Aston Martin is excellent.

The Superleggera body underwent a complete restoration a few years ago, and the entire car presents as well-maintained and in good condition. It was professionally repainted, and the paintwork looks beautiful. The chrome trim is original and in good condition, and the underside of the car is also well preserved.

Inside, the leather upholstery is beautiful and complements the exterior perfectly. The red carpets and interior details are in very good condition. The gauges, dashboard, and switches are beautifully maintained, and the striking red carpets add to the overall aesthetic. The color combination of this DB6 is simply stunning.

Driving this DB6 offers a true journey back in time. The six-cylinder engine with three twin carburetors produces a wonderful sound and aroma. The engine is matching numbers, and the mechanicals are in excellent condition. The braking system was completely overhauled a few years ago.

This is a special opportunity to own a piece of automotive history—a factory Vantage in its original color scheme, featuring the sought-after manual transmission, a 3.73:1 rear axle ratio, and matching numbers. Contact us today for more information or to arrange a viewing.
