In 1996, the Golf GTI was 20 years old (here you can see the fascinating history of this model that was born from an act of insubordination) and Volkswagen dedicated a special edition. It featured 2.0 115 hp engines and the two-liter 2.0 16V 150 hp engine and -surprise! - a 1.9 TDI 110 hp. The latter was the first Golf GTI diesel.

It has a very complete standard equipment: air conditioning, airbags, Recaro seats, 16-inch BBS wheels with wider tires, fog lights, computer, electric windows, electric mirrors, red brake calipers, electronic height adjustment of headlights and height-adjustable steering wheel.
