PRICE REDUCTION: FROM $299,500 NOW FOR $227,500 There are special cars, then there are very special cars, and then there is the Talbot Lago T26 by Carrosserie Worblaufen, F. Ramseier & Co., one of Switzerland's most highly regarded coachbuilders. This coachbuilder built cars based on Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Isotta Fraschini and, of course, Talbot Lago. A very exclusive 'voiture', of which only three were ever built. With only 750 built, the Talbot Lago T26 is already a very special vehicle, but in 1947 only 155 were built. With this bodywork, the three examples are virtually unique. The 'normal' T26 was presented in 1946, making it the first post-war model. Under the hood was a beautiful 4.5-liter six-cylinder engine, taken directly from the Grand Prix car of the time, although the power source there was slightly stronger at 280 hp. The spacious engine had around 190 hp and was linked to a Wilson preselector gearbox with four speeds. Lockheed hydraulic drum brakes and knock-off spoke wheels are just some of the special features of the T26. The T26 was one of the fastest luxury cars available at the time.In every respect, this Talbot Lago T26 Record by Worblaufen was the absolute best that was available at the time. No less than 1600 hours went into the construction of a single Worblaufen T26, and that's not including things like the chassis, engine, and other parts that were 'taken over' from the normal T26 Record. This T26 was delivered new in 1947 to its first owner in Zurich, a doctor. He enjoyed his special convertible for decades, until the exclusive car went to its second owner in the 1960s. It was not until 2003 that the Talbot Lago left Switzerland. It was during this period that the car was restored to unprecedented class by an exceptionally skilled restorer from the Netherlands. So well, in fact, that a few years later the car took part in the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, among other events. The car comes with a document containing a very detailed history, including around 100 restoration photos as well as photos from earlier times. Some cars are particularly beautiful from a certain angle, but that is not the case with this Talbot Lago. Viewed from every angle, the car is elegant, stylish, and beautifully lined. Simply art on wheels. And then you have to realize that the car is even more beautiful in reality than in the photos. With its beautiful teardrop-shaped fenders, a beautiful grille with a high-placed Talbot Lago emblem. Furthermore, of course, a beautiful 'split window' and a very nice line of the side windows.Worblaufen has put a lot of work into the interior. Beautiful leather, gorgeous carpets, and of course a beautiful dashboard design. The centrally placed gauges and the dashboard, partly finished in the body color, look truly fantastic. Absolutely everything you see is in excellent condition, and that also applies to the parts you don't see.A unique car that will not only bring you an unprecedented amount of pleasure while driving, but also while admiring all its beautiful parts, its stunning lines, and its magnificent finish.
