In the world of classic cars, the Austin-Healey 100 stands out as one of the most stylish open-top sports cars. Its elongated front end and short rear, combined with elegant lines, give this English classic an impressive and stunning appearance. Produced between 1953 and 1956, the Austin-Healey 100 was initially offered with a three-speed gearbox (model BN1), followed later by a four-speed version (model BN2). This fully restored Austin-Healey 100/4 dates from 1956, making it one of the final models produced in this series.
The car is in truly sublime condition, having undergone a complete "nut and bolt" restoration. An extensive photographic record of the process is available, clearly demonstrating that the professional restoration was executed to perfection, down to the finest detail. This "matching-numbers" Austin-Healey is in magnificent, as-new condition, both inside and out. The previous owner carried out the majority of the restoration himself with great precision; sadly, he passed away shortly after its completion.
As mentioned, this Austin-Healey 100 is in sublime condition. The beautiful silver-grey paintwork boasts a deep luster, and all chrome components and trim pieces are in brilliant condition. The various rubber seals and finishing details are also in excellent shape. The body panels align perfectly, and the doors close securely and precisely. The stunning wire wheels, complete with chrome knock-off spinners, are not only stylish but also in excellent condition. To emphasize the car’s sporty character, the front and rear bumpers have been removed (though they are included with the vehicle, along with their mounting brackets), and a leather strap has been fitted across the bonnet. The windshield can easily be folded down.
The interior is breathtaking. The stunning red leather upholstery pairs perfectly with the silver-grey exterior. Everything is in pristine, as-new condition, including the beautiful red carpeting. The red leather seats are exceptionally comfortable. The stylish, gloss-black dashboard is in flawless condition, and all instruments function exactly as they should. The large, elegant steering wheel is also in excellent condition. It is clear that this car has undergone a highly professional restoration. A black leather tonneau cover—also in as-new condition—is included with the vehicle.
Under the bonnet lies the original, fully rebuilt 2660cc four-cylinder engine. The level of care and passion invested in the restoration is evident here as well; the engine bay is in an impressively pristine state, and the engine itself runs with remarkable smoothness and composure. During the rebuild, an electronic ignition system was installed. The engine is also equipped with a Denis Welch cylinder head (certificate included). The overdrive ensures a more comfortable driving experience, and this Austin-Healey 100 handles with great ease and fluidity. The brakes, too, feel solid and responsive. In short, this is a unique, matching-numbers Austin-Healey, restored to an as-new condition.
