A British sports car restored in Germany. This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 MKIII was restored down to the last detail to its original factory specifications. It is finished in the classic British Racing Green color.
The Austin-Healey 3000 was introduced in 1959 and became the best-known model within the family now simply referred to as the "Big Healeys." Under the long hood lies a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, mated to a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. A simple formula, but exceptionally effective.
The bodies were built by Jensen Motors and then assembled at the MG factory in Abingdon. The result was a sports car that had a distinctly British look but was also powerful enough to make a serious mark in international rally racing.
In 1964, the Mark III—internally designated the BJ8—was introduced. This was the most powerful iteration of the Austin-Healey 3000. Thanks in part to a different camshaft and larger SU carburetors, power output increased. The BJ8 remains legendary—not because it was the most refined sports car of its time. Steering requires attention, and the engine makes it clear that it’s working hard for you. But that’s precisely the whole point. You sit low, look out over the long hood, and hear the six-cylinder engine sound richer and richer as the tachometer climbs.
The Mark III also became more comfortable than its predecessors. The dashboard placed the most important instruments directly in front of the driver, power brakes became standard, and the BJ8 evolved into a full-fledged sports convertible that could comfortably handle longer distances.
This example dates from 1967 and was restored to a high standard in Germany. The car is in exceptionally well-maintained condition—both inside and out, and down to the finest details.
