HISTORY AND DOCUMENTATION The iconic "Frogeye" Austin Healey weighs just 650 kg. The slogan "Less is More" perfectly describes this car. Its simplicity makes it incredibly fun to drive. This MkI model was delivered in 1959, making it one of the earliest produced. In 1997, it was shipped from California, USA, to the Netherlands, where it underwent a complete body-off restoration. It remained in the same owner's possession until 2026. A comprehensive file accompanies the car, including import documents, maintenance invoices, history, photos, and more. Since restoration, the car has driven only 645 miles. EXTERIORT he car is finished in a bright red called "Ford Radiant Red." The paintwork remains in very good condition. Body panels fit well, and the underside is very clean. The lighting is in excellent condition. The steel wheels feature original chrome hubcaps with the AH logo and are fitted with good tires. INTERIOR: The interior is finished in black faux leather with red piping. It features adjustable seats and is in good condition with no damage and only minimal signs of use. Accessories include a thick Moto-Lita steering wheel and a master power switch. A spare tire and a tonneau cover are included. The side window frames are present. TECHNICAL The 0.9-liter 4-cylinder engine is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, providing a fun, agile, and pure driving experience. The engine was overhauled in 2004, with an invoice available. The lightweight polyester hood improves handling, requires less maintenance, and folds forward completely for easy engine access. Significant technical upgrades include the stronger "rib case" gearbox and front disc brakes. The car drives well but has seen limited use recently, so a service before the next season is recommended. GENERAL The Austin Healey Sprite was produced from 1958 to 1971, with the MkI model built from 1958 to 1961. Designed to be sporty yet affordable, it emphasizes simplicity. The entire front body panel is a single piece that opens toward the rear for engine access. The car features a 43 hp 948 cc engine, a tuned version of the Austin A-series engine. It lacks exterior door panels, locks, trunk, or side windows. Its distinctive appearance with bulging headlights earned it the nickname "Frogeye." Thanks to its excellent handling, it was successful in rally racing.
