Description

1924/1950 Mark VI Bentley Straight Eight William Arnold bodied special.

Chassis number: B94HR
Registration number: FFK382

This car was constructed using a Mark VI chassis & an original Willam Arnold body that in 1924 graced an original 3.0 Bentley. The work was done in 2010 with much of it being undertaken by marque specialists Racing Green of Llanelli. Trim & hood work was undertaken by James Pearce of Sussex, so all the right people have been involved in its construction.

What you see here is unique in being a genuine original, 1924 William Arnold Tourer body (which in period was fitted to 1924 Bentley 3 Litre chassis). As part of a highly detailed recent rebuild the body has subsequently been fitted to a later 1950 Bentley Mark VI chassis and in its splendid new incarnation the chassis is powered by a straight eight B80 engine of 5675 cc, breathing through four SU carburettors.

The car is in superb driving condition having resided for the last few years in a prominent German collection where it has been used regularly but sparingly. The car is a pleasure to drive being both fast & powerful. The coachwork gives the appearance of a genuine WO car, whilst the handling, performance & gear box are very un-W.O. like. We sold this car previously 8 years ago & are delighted to have it back.

The car is finished in deep maroon paintwork; a refreshing change from the more usual green. The interior is black hide thoughout with matching black carpets. The body takes the form of a commodious open tourer with an auster screen affording a degree of protection to the rear occupants. A large cream coloured hood easily erects for inclement motoring conditions. To the front of the car are large headlamps, a central spot lamp & a pair of period trumpet horns along with the De Rigeur chicken wire radiator grille.
