Apparently, only 786 E30 M3 convertibles were made. Hand-built by BMW M, it was the fastest four-seater convertible ever produced at the time.

The BMW E30 was produced from 1982 to 1994 and represented the iconic 3-series during its run. Its angular and sporty design characterized BMW's style, with the E36 succeeding it featuring rounder shapes. The E30 is the last 3-series to showcase the classic BMW design loved by enthusiasts.

The E30 lineup offered a wide variety of engines, transmissions, and body styles, including sedans, wagons, convertibles, and sporty models developed with BMW M. It ranged from a 1.6-litre straight-four to a 2.7-litre straight-six engine, with options for 3-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmissions.

In 1985, the series expanded to include a more powerful diesel and a convertible. In 1987, the wagon was added, along with more powerful engines, improved rust protection, and enhanced mechanical efficiency. Over two million E30s were sold, with production continuing in parallel until 1994 even after the introduction of the E36 in fall 1990.

The BMW E30 M3 was introduced in 1986, featuring a sportier design inspired by DTM racing cars. It was built with a 2,302 cc straight-four engine producing 200 horsepower, based on the engine from the E28 M5. The M3 was wider, larger, and more aggressive than standard E30s, offering excellent grip, responsiveness, and a solid feel on its wide tires.

In 1990, the engine displacement increased to 2.5 litres with 238 horsepower. Production of the E30 M3 ended in 1991. It was available as a sedan, coupe, and convertible, with only 786 convertibles produced out of a total of 18,000 M3s, making the convertible the rarest variant.
