Description

An exceptionally well-preserved and very early BMW 740i from the E38 generation, finished in the elegant Aspensilber color and paired with a full leather interior in Tartufo. With just 92,389 kilometers on the odometer, a remarkably high degree of originality, and an attractive German history, this is exactly the kind of E38 that is rarely offered for sale these days.

This BMW was delivered new on October 4, 1994, by the then-official BMW dealer Vogelsang Automobile GmbH & Co. KG in Recklinghausen. This makes it a very early example from the E38’s launch year. The car comes from its second German owner and has had only two owners since new—remarkably, both held doctoral degrees.

What immediately stands out is the exceptionally original condition in which this 740i has been preserved. The body is still entirely covered in the original factory paint and looks exceptionally beautiful. The interior is also exceptionally well-preserved. The leather, wood trim, switches, and other details give the impression of a BMW that has been treated with above-average care throughout its entire life.

Under the hood lies the 3,982 cc BMW V8 with 286 PS, mated to an automatic transmission. At the time, the 740i was among the most impressive models in the E38 series: powerful and exceptionally smooth, but above all designed for comfortable and effortless high-speed travel. It is precisely this combination of comfort, refinement, and understated elegance that has made the E38 one of the most beloved generations of the BMW 7 Series today.

As the list below shows, this vehicle came from the factory with an exceptionally extensive list of features:

0214 – Automatic Stability Control (ASC+T)
0216 – Servotronic speed-sensitive power steering
0302 – Alarm system
0352 – Double glazing (insulated glass)
0354 – Windshield with green band
0401 – Electric sliding/tilting sunroof
0423 – Velour floor mats
0428 – Warning triangle and first-aid kit
0431 – Auto-dimming rearview mirror
0456 – Comfort seats with memory function
0464 – Ski bag / rear seat load-through system
0494 – Heated driver and passenger seats
0499 – Power-adjustable rear headrests
0500 – Headlight washer system
0508 – Park Distance Control (PDC)
0510 – Automatic headlight height adjustment
0534 – Automatic air conditioning
0555 – On-board computer V with remote control
0670 – BMW Professional RDS radio
0690 – Cassette holder
0801 – Germany/Austria market specification

The BMW Styling 37 M Parallel Spoke alloy wheels give the car a powerful yet exceptionally elegant appearance.

An early BMW E38 740i with such low mileage is exceptional in and of itself. However, a car with only two German owners, a beautiful color scheme, extensive factory equipment, and a body that is still entirely covered in the original factory paint is considerably harder to find these days.

A beautifully preserved example from a period when BMW built some of its finest luxury sedans.
