Motodrome offer this outstanding 1972 BMW ‘Neue Klasse’ 2000 4-door manual, finished in it’s original Grey with blue cloth interior
When was the last time you saw one of these? They’re like hen’s teeth, especially in original UK RHD form.
The 1962-72 ‘Neue Klasse’ models helped to establish BMW’s credentials as manufacturers of sports saloons, and was replaced by the E12 5 series in 1972, making this example one of the last built.
It’s also the first BMW to introduce the ‘Hofmeister Kink’ to the C-pillar, which you still see on modern BMWs.
This beautifully original, low mileage example has reputedly been in one family ownership in Kent all it’s life (until it came to us), has always been garaged, and has covered a mere 47000 miles from new, with old MOT’s back to 1979 and 23044 miles.
Drives beautifully, with a very sweet M10 engine, slick 4-speed gearbox, and goes down the road smoothly with no rattles or squeaks.
Fitted with a stainless exhaust, and last serviced by the last owner in February 2024, less than 100 miles ago. Recent carburettor rebuild and subsequently set up on a dyno.
What else can I say about it? If you know your classic BMW’s, you’ll know just how special this one is, and it’s as original as they come.
On our own website, you'll find our usual 2 videos – a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions, which form part of the description.
