BMW 2002 Turbo for saleGeneral information: The BMW 2002 Turbo, introduced in 1973, was a groundbreaking performance car and the first turbocharged production model from BMW. Based on the already successful 2002, it featured a 2.0-liter inline-four engine with a Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection system and a turbocharger, producing 170 horsepower, an impressive figure for its time. With aggressive fender flares, front and rear spoilers the 2002 Turbo had a striking presence. However, the 1973 oil crisis led to low production numbers, with only 1,672 units made, making it a rare and highly sought-after collector’s car today.Exterior: When choosing your BMW 2002 Turbo in 1975, there were not many options in terms of color, it was either Chamonix White or Polaris Silver. The BMW 2002 Turbo presented here is in the classic Chamonix White. The condition of this car is exceptional. The paint has a very good finish with very little to remark on. The body lines are nice and sharp, and the panel gaps are good. All chrome pieces have an excellent finish, and all stainless steel trim pieces are new. Underneath, in the trunk, and under the hood, the car also looks brand new. The car has received a proper restoration and has barely been used since. No corners have been cut, and the finish in all areas is as it was when the car left the factory. The only non-original parts on the car's exterior are the wheels and suspension. It has Bilstein dampers and slightly lower springs. Additionally, the car has been fitted with a set of period-correct original BBS RS wheels. However, it also comes with its original wheels.Interior: Inside this BMW 2002 Turbo, the excellent condition continues. The car has new carpets, door cards, and reupholstered front seats in the original black vinyl. The instrument cluster is in its iconic red color, and on this car, it is completely original. All interior pieces are in nice condition—the dashboard has no cracks, the headliner is perfect, and the rest of the trim pieces are in great shape. The car is spacious and comfortable to sit in, and the Recaro seats, specific to the 2002 Turbo, are incredibly supportive.Engine and Mechanics: This BMW 2002 Turbo has also been fully restored mechanically. The engine has been completely rebuilt, including a new turbo, and the mechanical injection system was sent to Germany for a rebuild. The gearbox and differential have also been restored. The car’s transmission has been upgraded to a 5-speed—something that the 2002 Turbo almost needs in today’s world. With the 5th gear, the car cruises comfortably at highway speeds, keeping up with modern traffic. It has also been fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system from Supersprint, which truly transforms the driving experience, making it even more fun. Mechanically, the car shares much with the 2002 Tii, featuring Kugelfischer injection. However, with the addition of a turbo, the 2002 Turbo was taken to the next level. The car has great power and sounds amazing.History and Documentation: This car was sold new in Sweden and has had no more than five owners—a very low number for a BMW 2002 Turbo. Its current owner acquired the car in 2015 and began the restoration. The car was completed but was mostly left standing. Today, the car is in exceptional condition and has barely been broken in since its restoration. If you live in Sweden and would like to sell your classic BMW, please we are interested.
