Description

This is a 1971 Buick Skylark Custom convertible with a two barrel 350 V8. This was my Dad’s car and he passed in 1982. Since then, it has been covered and stored in my Mom’s garage and more recently in mine. It has been driven rarely, but it is in good condition and runs well. It has a new gas tank and most hoses and belts and all fluids have been replaced, My Dad bought it used, so there have been two owners. The upholstery and carpet are original and in perfect condition. All windows work perfectly. The miles are original and there has been no turn over on the odometer. We now need the space and I sadly have to part with this beautiful memory of my father.
I pride myself on being completely honest in my dealings and because of this, I want to point out a few issues. The radio and the AC don’t work and the tires are old. Also there is a hole in the top about the size of a cup saucer. I live in Florida and left the top down when it was in the garage so it was ready for sunny day drives. I guess the roof developed dry rot in that spot, although the rest of the roof looks perfectly fine and the roof and roof motor work great and latch shut properly. Also, the roof has a glass rear window, which a lot of convertibles lack. I think that the roof could easily be patched, but I am willing to work with a buyer to have the top they want (material and color) put on the car before they pick it up, if that is necessary. I have done research and there are a number of very high quality convertible top people in my area who could patch or replace. Also, the car apparently had body work before my Dad bought it (it was never damaged while we owned it) and there are runs in the paint behind the rear window. . They are hard to see unless you are looking for them. I have included pictures of the roof, the hole and the paint runs.
Because of the issues I listed,, I am willing to work with a buyer on the price. I am happy to have the car checked out by a mechanic of the buyer’s choice and I am willing to help the buyer locate and arrange for transport if needed
