Description

This 1966 Buick Wildcat convertible is a fairly rare example with less than 5,500 made this year (and only about 2,800 of this more premium Custom trim line.) So this one is already attractive even before you see that this has been given some terrific investments over the last decade, including updating the V8 and adding four-wheel disc brakes.

This convertible has an interesting history where we're told it was with the first owner for 45 years. Then it was with the second owner until now. So what you're going to find is a cool mix of well-preserved originality and some updates/upgrades that keep this a great cruiser without taking away from the earned vintage style. This feeling starts with the paint. It shows the right signs of being the original application, and that makes for an impressive completeness on a car that has passed the half-century mark. So while some people may want to use the value price to give this a high-gloss respray, we find something special in a car that has earned its finish and shows it. The full story of this car is also seen in the quality of the overall presentation. It's believed that the odometer represents the full mileage, and that would mean averaging only about 1,400 miles annually. This kind of careful use can be seen in the crispness of the body panels, completeness of the trim, and even the quality of the white roof. It really is a thoughtful style, right down to the tires that have a cool look with a red stripe to go with the paint and a white one to go with the roof.

More of the time capsule style. Bright trim, working courtesy lights, and insignia trim in the seatbacks make for terrific details for vintage loves. In fact, the only upgrade you may spot is the handy engine water temp gauge mounted under the dash. This was Buick's full-size offering so there's plenty of room for you to comfortably share the classic car experience with family and friends. But there are some terrific driver-oriented features. After all, front bucket seats with a center console in-between mean you're always getting an individual level of comfort. Plus, power windows and a power convertible top mean you never have to leave the driver's seat when you want to open this one up to the world.

Under the hood you'll find a 401 cubic-inch V8. This is an era-correct block with an honest and original-style presentation, right down to the Wildcat 445 callout on the air topper (that number signaled the monster torque from the V8.) You might also be able to spot some of the good investments under the second owner, like the Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, updated intake, and steel-braided fuel line. This has nice cruiser features like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes. Plus, this has been updated for more confidence on the road with newer bushings and four-wheel disc brakes.

Complete with owner's manual, this classic drop-top combines originality, rarity, and a terrific price. So you know you don't want to miss this Wildcat. Call today!!!
