Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is pleased to present this 1982 Chevrolet El Camino. Few cars in history are as easily identifiable and loved like the El Camino. Over the 25 model years and 5 generations, Chevy's half truck, half car has proven to be a classic from its early days when it debuted in 1959. The El Camino was created as direct competition to Ford's Ranchero that hit the streets in 1957. When the El Camino first came into the market it was built on the Chevrolet X-frame, it shared the same engine options and styling as the other big Chevy cars at the time like the Impala and Biscayne. Chevy pulled the line for 3 years but in 1964 the El Camino came back completely reworked on the new mid-size Chevelle platform. For the remainder of the El Camino's life it carried on as a midsized vehicle with car styling comparable to the Chevelle/Malibu but with that unmistakable pick-up truck bed. Look at the undercarriage of this beauty and you will notice that it has been stripped, cleaned, and had a black semi-gloss epoxy applied to it. When doing the restoration on this slick 82 El Camino, the owner revamped the whole suspension system, replacing the tie rods, bushings, ball joints, front, and rear coil springs. Under the hood is a 350 CID V8, topped by an Edelbrock 4BBL carb and aluminum intake. Backing the mighty mouse is a 4-speed Automatic transmission. Inside, one can't help but be impressed by the interior, which was installed by Cosme's. The last bit of nice touch this El Camino brings to the table is the revamped stereo system that has a Pioneer head unit that supports AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, and a CD Player. Powering the two 8-inch Rockford subwoofers is an Optimus 200-watt amplifier. When it comes to restored El Caminos, it doesn't get much better than Big Blue here, so join the ever growing El Camino community and take this sweet ride home.
