Description
For sale is an original 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS coupe, prepared as a restoration project.
The vehicle has already undergone extensive preliminary work—many of the most labor- and cost-intensive steps have already been completed.
A brief history:
The car was purchased in 2009 in New Jersey, USA, by Baz Dreamcars, a company based in Waghäusel. It sat untouched in their garage until 2019, when I took over the project and restored it myself with the help of their mechanics until around 2022. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I am no longer able to continue the restoration.
All paperwork, invoices, and data checks are available.
**Work / Restoration Already Completed:**
* The entire underside of the body was sandblasted, coated with underbody protection and fully sealed. The body was mounted on a rotisserie during this work.
* The complete chassis/frame was sandblasted, restored, painted and sealed, including cavity protection.
* New Wilwood disc brake system installed, including several new brake hoses.
* Completely rebuilt rear axle and differential, professionally overhauled by a specialist company and repainted.
* Numerous ancillary parts and components replaced.
* New trunk floor pan welded in.
* New passenger-side floor pan welded in.
* New passenger-side door included, purchased from Eckler’s in the USA.
* Bodywork prepared up to the primer stage.
* All axle components and other chassis attachments were sandblasted and professionally powder-coated.
* New wheel bearings, shock absorbers, mounts, axle bushings, control-arm bushings, bolts and other components installed. No old bolts or bushings were reused anywhere on the chassis—everything was replaced with new parts.
* Power steering system and steering box renewed.
* One front inner fender was sandblasted and powder-coated; the other was sandblasted only.
* Both rear wheel arches were welded and repaired due to existing rust holes.
* Most of the interior was stripped, sanded and primed, including the firewall. Alubutyl sound-deadening mats were also installed throughout the interior.
* The entire rear right-side body panel between the door and wheel arch was replaced; please refer to the pictures.
* The hood was chemically stripped and received minor welding repairs in the front section.
* The passenger-side door was also chemically stripped, sealed internally and coated with primer.
* New windshield included and still in its original packaging. All other windows were extensively polished and restored to a high-gloss finish.
---
**Work Still Required:**
* New engine and transmission required. The original 327 Small Block engine and Powerglide transmission were unfortunately missing. As they were not matching-numbers components, they were used by Baz for another Chevrolet project.
* Complete refurbishment or replacement of the interior. The original seats, rear bench, dashboard and other interior components are all included.
* New wiring harness and heating/air-conditioning system required. The original heater and wiring harness are included.
* Some additional bodywork is required before painting, particularly on the lower rear quarter panels and around the rear window.
* New steering wheel required.
* All chrome parts and trim require refurbishment, including the trim moldings and bumpers. All original parts are included.
* Lights, headlights and related components need to be renewed.
* The window regulator mechanisms and linkages inside the doors require refurbishment or replacement. Work on the original mechanisms has already been started.
The vehicle can be inspected in its current condition in **68753 Waghäusel, Germany**.
Approximately **300 additional photographs** documenting the restoration process are available upon request.
