Race Car Replicas (RCR) began in 2003 building replicas of iconic vintage race cars mostly from the 1960s era. In late 2006 and early 2007 the first original design "superkit" cars were being made and loosely based on the IMSA GTP cars of the 1980s and 90s, most notably the Kudzu GTP. In 2007 RCR went back to producing replicas of race cars and their sister company Superlite LLC was formed to handle the building of their own unique designs. Together they became the leading manufacturers of these premium-quality component cars and were set up with a factory in the Detroit, Michigan area that is even open to visits so you can see first-hand the process and designs they've created. All Superlite cars are built with in-house development and production of modern chassis with their own suspension and great looking bodies designed to all work perfectly together. These are not your average kit cars that are built on an old design tube chassis with riveted aluminum panels that don't fit well together or need a lot of body work after being built. Not only having attractive looks, but these cars are also racetrack proven and built using state of the art technology including laser cutters, waterjet cutters, CNC tube bending equipment and a CNC lathe with CNC machining centers to machine custom billet aluminum chassis and suspension parts.
The Superlite Coupe also known simply as the SL-C became the most successful car in the Superlite line and was designed with the driver in mind as it is essentially a racecar with air conditioning, visibility was also key as it features a bubble cockpit providing a perfect view of the track in front of you. A fiberglass composite body surrounds the suspension that is all new solid billet aluminum as Superlite never used donor parts for its vehicles. You will find beautiful TIG welds throughout and class A finishes on every panel, built with the most modern technology by skilled craftsmen. The SL-C offers a great platform that is fast, stable, and reliable, as well as being less expensive than other similar choices offering many satisfied customers great success with their SL-Cs on track days throughout the country. Superlite has had its own success with racing the SL-C setting numerous track records and winning the 2011 NASA super unlimited class national championship, finishing in pole position for every race and winning all qualifying races! Everything on the championship winning SL-C is either standard or available as an off the shelf option at the Superlite factory when being built whose designers remain dedicated for owners to race and win!
We are excited to offer this 2012 Superlite Coupe with only 17 miles on the odometer! Finished in a clean Pure White exterior over a Black interior with a roof that has been customized to accommodate taller drivers with the added height of wearing a helmet. A unique and rare exotic car made even more so by the engine that powers it. Sitting at the rear of this racecar is a specially designed Thomson Automotive Hurricane 442 which is a stroked version of a LS7 aluminum block with significant upper-rpm horsepower along with a ton of low-end torque. More air flow relates to more power, and the exotic looking Harrop Hurricane intake lives up to its name and produces dyno gains of 40 horsepower and 50 lb-ft torque compared to the original LS7 intake. Thomson's 7.2L produced an amazing dyno rating of 740 horsepower with 640 lb-ft torque which is around 46% more power than a stock LS7 produces! Impressive numbers from a naturally aspirated V8!
Paired with a Holley Dominator ECU for advanced access and control over virtually every aspect of the engine and transmission parameters. The Hurricane 442 engine is mated to a Ricardo 6-speed manual transaxle. Magnaflow exhaust mufflers quickly expel the hot air and provide a powerful sound quite fitting to this racecar. To hug the track with all that power this SL-C is equipped with QA1 double adjustable race derived aluminum shocks with Eibach springs, and power front/rear lift system. Stopping power comes provided by Brembo brakes on the fronts and rears with electric locking e-brake sitting behind Forgestar performance wheels wrapped in Nitto Invo high performance tires measuring 275/35R18 in the front and 325/30R19 in the rear. Features include working A/C, an in-dash display by Pyle for the back-up camera, an APC quick release steering wheel, Koso multifunction gauge display, Race Logic GPS system, Isis Power digital wiring system, and a Patterson Dry Sump Oil system. Since its arrival at the St. Louis Car Museum, it has gotten a brand-new battery and fresh set of NGK spark plugs.
This Superlite Coupe starts and runs amazing and would catch the eyes and ears of anyone around, although it is in need of completion as it remains unfinished inside with no seatbelts, no passenger seat and a relatively sparse interior. Also included with the car are the carbon fiber rear window vents not yet installed. With only 17 miles of test driving this is a unique opportunity to own and personalize to your own tastes at a reasonable price. This SL-C has never been titled and is still on its original MSO giving you the chance to be the first official owner.
