This is a beautifully constructed VM 77. VM 77 was a German manufacturer of cars’s inspired by the Lotus Seven. The VM 77 was just a bit wider and gave the occupants just a bit more space than a Lotus. This one is equipped with the rare independent rear suspension (front is always independent) and has lower floors so that people who are taller can fit in well. The car is powered by rock-solid Opel technology. The C20LEH Opel engine in this example delivers considerable power and makes the VM 77 a true rocket on wheels. The car has been owned by an enthusiast and built to a high standard. The bodywork looks neatly cared for. The paint has some very light signs of use that fit the age and mileage of the car. The car is on nice wheels that have good tires in the correct sizes. The interior is as you would expect very spartan. The car has access to several instruments that clearly communicate the vital functions of the car and give a good picture of the various temperatures of the fluids present. Steering is done with a nice little steering wheel that fits perfectly in your hand, and you sit in lovely bucket seats that also feature a harness from Sparco. The technology is of course what it's all about with a car like this. This VM 77 is built with the best possible parts. For example, the car has access to the aforementioned independent rear suspension as well as disc brakes all around. Both items were available at the time at extra cost as options when putting together a VM 77. The available power printout tells us that the engine produces 262 horsepower at the wheels. The engine is equipped with some nice upgrades that benefit temperature management such as a downpipe that can drain the exhaust gases better, a larger intercooler and a larger blow off valve. As a result, the car is a beast to drive. When the engine picks up pressure you have to shift quickly to avoid ending up in the rev limiter. Fortunately, the finely shifting five-speed manual transmission makes that no problem at all. The suspension and brakes have been very well maintained in recent years and all function perfectly. The car comes with lots of documentation so there are diagrams present, all invoices of the construction and of course the manual. In short, a beautiful and rare VM 77 in a composition that we do not often see but can be labeled as the only correct way to build such’n car.
