For years, the Citroën DS was mostly known as "the pike," but now enthusiasts simply call this unique classic car by its officialële model name again. Nevertheless, this Frenchman deserves its own chapter in any book about classic cars. From the first series with single headlights to the later versions with the lights behind glass: the DS was ahead of its time so that even today it is still a pleasure to look at and to drive.The gray Citroën DS 23 Injection Electronique, quite a mouthful indeed, that you see here is exactly how many prefer to see him: a beautiful subdued color that the lines of the DS beautifully show, combined with a beautiful chocolate brown leather interior. The DS is in beautifully restored condition. The DS is equipped with the most powerful engine, the 2,347 cc four-cylinder rated at 141 horsepower. Coupled with a semi-automatic gearbox, it is an incredibly pleasant car for long distances, whether on the Dutch A2 or the French Autoroute. 'Very beautiful' is the best description for the bodywork of the DS. The screens, doors and engine and trunk lid are in very nice condition and so is the anthracite gray, pardon the pun, Gris Brumaire (AC092) paint. The roof is done in black vinyl, which contrasts very nicely with the shiny metallic paint. Chrome work and rubbers were all included during the restoration, so they are in very nice condition. The doors, close well and fall shut very nicely, something that can sometimes be different with DS's.The interior is as we prefer to see it: in beautiful condition and with leather that is not "just from the upholsterer" but beautifully alive. Nothing is worn or has significant signs of wear but leather just gets more beautiful when it is used. Looking further around you see beautiful chrome details, a dashboard in very nice condition and beautiful, soft 'chamois bouclé' floor covering. Looking behind you have a view of the Gradalux blindsën, a typical accessory of the era.The 2.3 liter DX5 engine, equipped with Bosch D-Jetronic injection system, is a pleasure and delight to drive. In 2018, the technology was completely overhauled. The engine runs and sounds very healthy and the car drives silky smooth, as you would expect from a DS of this class. Maintenance has been performed at specialists. In keeping with the rest of the car, the bottom is also in very good condition. No work has been done to the eye and there is no need for it: apart from signs of use it can be labeled as "very good".This DS should not be missed if you are looking for one of the most comfortable classics available.
