Description

1972 International Harvester Scout II

Engine and Drivetrain: Powered by a 345 cubic-inch V8 engine, delivering classic IH performance. It has a recent new Holley 2bbl carburetor that fires up well and sounds good with the dual exhaust. The 4-speed manual transmission shifts as intended. The clutch grabs very high, so it will need adjustment but does work and shift gears.

Equipment: Equipped with power steering (P/S) and power brakes (P/B) for improved drivability compared to base models.

Interior and Exterior: Features a classic soft top, roll bar, and a functional bench seat configuration. The interior is fully carpeted for a deluxe feel. There are no rips in the seats. The dash pad is nice, and the door panels are good. The carpet is older but presentable.

Status: This is a presentable driver that looks great from a distance but will benefit from some TLC to address typical wear and cosmetic touch-ups consistent with its age. The older paint cleans up well with a good shine but has various imperfections.

Underside: Floors have had sheet metal patches, as well as new outer rockers. It still needs inner rockers and braces to add some structural stability. The body mounts and frame are good. Door gaps need adjustment. The underside has been fully undercoated.

This vehicle is perfect for a builder looking for a solid starting point who has the fabrication skills to handle structural steel replacement. Please have realistic expectations: this is a running and driving car that could use restoration down the road, depending on how far you want to go with it. It is not something you'll get in and drive coast to coast without further work. Don't expect a brand new vehicle; if you know what you're looking at, you understand how much they go for.
