A magnificent example of Alfa Romeo’s great classic coupé, absolutely ready to enjoy.
This Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV was first registered in Italy on 29th of April in 1971. It stayed in its home country for many years, always properly cared for. As a Danish specialist in the classic Bertone coupés saw the car forty years later he could not stand for its unmolested charm and brought the little Alfa up to the North. Here it received a respray to a very high standard as well as minor repairs before it came into the hands of a true Alfa Romeo aficionado - this was his sixth GTV.
The very enthusiastic owner really used the Alfa properly, driving it on many an adventurous road trip: As such the Alfa has covered the trip from Denmark to France, Italy and the owner’s preferred Spain multiple times – and in the process taking in some of the best roads of Europe. In order to stand up to the rigours the Alfa Romeo was maintained to the highest standards, receiving everything from new suspension bushings to a rebuilt gearbox along the way.
In 2015 a routine check on the otherwise perfectly reliable “Nord” twin cam engine revealed a slighty lower compression on cylinder 4 – upon which the owner decided to have the engine completely rebuilt. While this went on he drove his Citroën DS instead, enjoying its comfort advantage over the Alfa Romeo. This (and a Land Rover-project...) delayed the refitting of the engine a good deal, and the Alfa unusually lay dormant in all of 2016 and 2017.
During the winter of 2018 the car was finally revived and the Alfa returned to the roads in the spring. The car is in as rude health as ever, ready to new adventures all over Europa. As the owner meanwhile has become so connected with the Citroën experience he has heavy-hearted decided that the Alfa Romeo is ready for a new custodian and has put up the car for sale.
This represents a chance for a new adventurer to acquire an Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV that has been maintained with an no-expense spared attitude. Besides the rebuilt engine the Alfa features a rebuilt gearbox, balanced propshaft, rebuilt carburettors, brakes and brake cylinders, rebuilt steering box, radiator, seats, dashboard and more – everything documented in photos and with receipts.
Add to that a wonderfully presented car in classic red and black and almost completely to original specifications: Besides a very slight lowering of 20 mm as well as the addition of the handsome GTA-alloy swheel this 1750 GTV is as true to an original factory delivered car as you will probably ever get. Yet it is absolutely no trailer queen: This Alfa Romeo is ready for anything. The engine is still running-in with less than 800 kilometers on it, and already the Alfa is bursting with life and lust after more driving. The owner says this is the best of all the seven GTV's he has owned over the years.
I am selling the car for the mentioned owner, my good friend and colleague. Any inspection welcome. Car can be viewed near Aarhus, Denmark - pick up at airport (AAR) possible. Call for further enquiries: I speak English / Ich spreche Deutsch.
