• Very original and unrestored condition • Fine interior • Very good driving specimen – ‘a true survivor’An Italian icon was born at the Geneva International Motor Show in 1966. There, Alfa Romeo introduced the 1600 Spider, which we now know by the name ‘Duetto’. This was the last project led by Giovanni Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina. Under the skin, Alfa Romeo based the 1600 Spider on the Giulia Sprint GT with a shortened wheelbase of 225 mm. Equipped with a 1,570 cc engine with two carburetors, the marque managed 109 horsepower. The combination of this engine with a five-speed gearbox, independent front and rear suspension, brake discs all around and a weight of only 990 kg, makes this Alfa Romeo a fantastic car to drive and it is not for nothing that this is a highly sought after model. The example we offer here is in a very original and unrestored condition and can be called flawless. Roughly 30 years ago, it was not unusual to find an unrestored specimen in good condition, but this is unfortunately a rarity these days. Therefore, we are happy to have an original copy in the collection. We bought this fine Duetto from second owner – from an enthusiast who drove the Alfa in sunny Santa Barbara, Californiaë. The hot and dry climate has done a lot of good with this example. For example, this Alfa Romeo has never been welded and although the paint is old, it suits the original and unrestored condition of this example. This also applies to the chrome work such as the bumpers and hubcaps. Therefore, the car as a whole looks presentable. The interior is also very original and the upholstery of the seats, the door panels, the instrument panel and the dashboard are nice examples of this. The whole thing, considering its unrestored condition, looks neat and will make many a purist smile. Because of the five-speed gearbox with independent front and rear suspension and brake discs all around, it is a joy to drive and this Duetto guarantees many (sunny) kilometers. Under the hood, the overall condition is original. This example drives properly. The engine runs quietly, the gearbox is easy to operate and the brakes, thanks to the disc brakes, feel safe and good. With this car we provide various documentation including (workshop) manuals. Unrestored cars’s have in our opinion always something special. They have history and they have not been totally dismantled. There is something special about that. Because this Spider comes from a dry and warm climate and has only had two owners, this example can be called very pure. It is almost impossible to come by and that makes this Alfa rare. This car has a Dutch license plate. Are you interested in this Alfa Romeo Duetto? Please contact us now by filling out the form ‘request more information’ and we will contact you as soon as possible.
