The Daimler DB18 Barker Special Sports is one of those typical British cars that many people have lost sight of over the years. A car you rarely saw when they were sold new and now, many years later, even less. Still special to mention with such a beautiful stately British open tourer. The car has been fully restored and overhauled in the past and is still in wonderful condition. This car was delivered new in 1951 and is therefore ééone of the later Daimler DB18’s.The body of the car is neatly cared for and features beautiful thin sheet metal with correct fits. The paint has been completely re-sprayed in its two-tone color scheme during the restoration. The paint is in nice condition with only very light traces of use. The car stands on the original wheels with beautiful chrome hubcaps. The convertible top has also been renewed in the past and is still in good condition. The hood fits everywhere nicely and is easy to operate. The interior of the Daimler is écht British. So that means a lot of wood and a lot of leather. The interior was completely renewed during the restoration where the wood was also completely restored. The carpets are still in very good condition and fit everywhere perfectly. The leather on the seats is wonderfully supple, in good condition and looks beautiful. The dashboard has clear instruments and controls that all function as they should. In the back, there is room for ééone person who can take a seat on the so-called “sideways facing seat”. Should you be planning a very long trip with the Daimler and need the space then it is good to know that the seat can also be easily removed. The Daimler is powered by a 2.5 liter six-in-line that delivers 85 hp and is mated to a Wilson Pre-select with three gears and overdrive. It makes the Daimler an extremely suitable touring car. The Daimler, as befits a stately Briton, has no sporting aspirations and instead chooses to move gracefully and with elegance over ’s Country roads. In this case it will do very well. The engine has already been overhauled once and runs beautifully. The pre-select matches the relaxed character of the car perfectly and thanks to the overdrive, covering longer distances is no problem at all. The chassis is of course tuned to transport the occupants as comfortably as possible. The brakes can be controlled precisely and the engine compartment is also well taken care of. This car dates from the time when cars were still driven by solid engines. The Daimler comes with a large folder containing invoices, general information and manuals. In short a very special and beautifully cared for Daimler DB18 Barker Special Sports.
