Description

High-end, exclusive luxury combined with understated elegance—that is a fitting description of the Daimler Super V8. This luxurious flagship model from the British marque was produced between 1997 and 2002 and was based on the Jaguar XJR. The Daimler Super V8 is not only impressive for its refined luxury and ultimate driving comfort, but it also holds significance as one of the last truly hand-built Daimlers. It is, without a doubt, a magnificent and iconic automobile. This is especially true for this particular Daimler Super V8, which was manufactured in 2000 and originally delivered new in the Netherlands. The car was purchased new by the well-known Dutch entrepreneur Maup Caransa—a real estate developer who made headlines in 1977 when he was kidnapped and subsequently released following the payment of a ransom. In 2004, he sold the vehicle to another prominent Dutch entrepreneur, Albert Winninghoff, who passed away this year. A legendary figure in the advertising industry, Winninghoff owned this Daimler for nearly 20 years. This Daimler Super V8—a Short Wheel Base model—is an exceptionally rare vehicle; it is one of only 76 Short Wheel Base versions ever produced.

It is clear that this Daimler Super V8 has been maintained with great love and care. The car is in remarkably beautiful, superb condition, and its stunning original "Westminster Blue" paintwork retains a deep, elegant luster. Aside from a few minor signs of use, the paint and bodywork remain in excellent condition. The classic fluted Daimler grille and the subtle chrome accents are also in exceptionally fine shape, as are the various rubber components and trim details. The body panels align with great precision. The original 17-inch alloy wheels are not only stunning and stylish, but also in excellent condition. This luxurious Daimler Super V8 is also equipped with an original sliding/tilting sunroof.

The interior is magnificent and of impressively high quality. The soft, luxurious Connolly leather upholstery, combined with polished burr walnut trim, underscores the exclusive ambiance of this top-tier limousine. This "royal-class" Daimler is appointed with every luxury and comfort. The beige leather upholstery is in very good condition, and the seats are exceptionally comfortable. The dashboard is not only beautiful to look at but is also in excellent, meticulously maintained condition. All instruments function as they should, and the exquisite wood-and-leather steering wheel is also in good condition. For rear-seat passengers, the seats are heated, and the fold-out picnic tables are in superb, perfect condition.

Under the bonnet lies a beautifully maintained, gem of an engine. This impressive and powerful 4.0-litre V8 is equipped with a supercharger, producing approximately 370 hp—more than enough power to navigate traffic with remarkable smoothness and comfort. The original service booklet is present and contains most of the required service stamps. This Daimler Super V8 was originally supplied by Kimman in Amsterdam, and the original tool kit is still complete and included with the car. The underside of this magnificent Daimler requires some attention, but given the unique history of this luxurious saloon, it is well worth the effort!
