We have this Daimler 4 1/2 liter Straight 8 Hooper, restored and permanently residing in the garage under tarpaulin. Complete restoration with original pieces or reconstructed by artisans. The bodywork and the underbody have no obvious defects. TOTAL ABSENCE OF RUST, even in the bottoms. Perfect interiors. Mechanically the engine is in excellent health and efficient, it starts immediately on the first try. 90% tires. ORIGINAL Italian number plates and booklet, USA import vehicle in 1986. Daimler Straight-Eight engines were eight-cylinder in-line petrol engines produced by the Daimler Company to power the largest and most expensive cars in their range. Straight-Eight engines replaced Daimler's previous Double-Six V12 engines. Unlike Double-Six engines, which used pinch valves based on Knight patents, the Straight-Eights used conventional poppet valves in the overhead valve configuration.
HISTORY: Vehicle imported from Miami (USA) in 1986, then stored in a hangar for 30 years. Beginning of the heavy restoration around 2016/2017, carried out by skilled hands, with original pieces or reconstructed by craftsmen in case of impossibility to reuse. After about 24 months the restoration was completed, then participating in numerous period rallies and obtaining many awards and prizes. The car has a Hooper Limousine body, built on project no. 6290 and appears to have been completed on March 4, 1936. According to Daimler's Classic Cars office, the car was purchased by the US government department and stayed with them until about 1952 with NLA 980 registration.
MAINTENANCE: Very accurate, all routine checks carried out on time.
STATE: New overhauled engine and mechanics condition, excellent paint and bodywork condition (considering the age), excellent underbody condition (considering the age), excellent general condition and maintenance (considering the age), 2,000 kilometers from the restoration, unique owner in Italy.
