To make things difficult for European manufacturers in the then-popular sports car market, Datsun introduced the Fairlady in the late 1950s, an elegant convertible that mainly had to chase Fiat, Alfa Romeo, MG and Triumph. The name was the idea of ​​the then president / chairman of Nissan, Katsuji Kawamata san, who had seen the musical My Fairlady in New York and was so impressed that he decided that he had found the name for his car. The copy offered here comes from a later series and is already equipped with the 1600 cc technique. Like most built 'ladies', this copy was also delivered new in America and in the state of California. Thanks to the favorable climate, this Datsun was very well preserved and both chassis and body are intact and hard. The green metallic paintwork looks nice and the body has a neat fit. Only a few years ago, the interior was redesigned, whereby the upholstery of the floor, chairs and doors was renewed. The so-called 'weather equipment' also comes in excellent condition with a virtually new soft top and tonneau cover. Despite the fact that 40,000 copies of the Datsun Fairlady were sold, they are difficult to find and with the increasing popularity of Japanese classics, it is an interesting investment.
