DeLorean DMC-12 - September 1981 - Automatic
This vehicle is in very original condition with air conditioning and a sturdy, rust-free chassis. It was imported to the Netherlands as early as 1990 and has had only three Dutch owners. The car features black leather upholstery and a valid MOT until June 22, 2028. It has been very well maintained, with over €10,000 invested in maintenance in 2025.
History and Documentation
The DeLorean DMC-12 is arguably the most legendary car ever made, developed by John DeLorean. It is an icon of 1980s style, featured in numerous books, films, and documentaries. The brand produced cars from January 1981 through mid-1983. This example, with chassis number ending in #4187, was built in September 1981, making it an early model. It was originally delivered in the United States and was one of the first imported to the Netherlands in 1990. The first owner kept the car until 2006, and the second owner until 2025.
The car has been meticulously maintained by a DeLorean specialist, with invoices for over €10,000 of work completed as recently as late 2025. The vehicle is in good, very original condition, with a new vehicle inspection (APK) valid until June 2028, with no recommendations or comments.
Exterior
The exterior is in good and very original condition. The stainless steel body is rust-free, and the plastic front and rear bumpers are well preserved. The rear bumper features stainless steel DeLorean lettering. The original 14" and 15" alloy wheels are fitted with new Continental tires from 2024, which are still in like-new condition.
Interior
The interior is also in good, original condition with minimal signs of wear. The dashboard is neat, and the floor mats are present. The center console and controls are in good condition and function properly. The original black leather upholstery is sought after, as most examples feature gray upholstery. The darker headliner has been replaced. A radio and a mass switch are installed. The front trunk area is in good condition.
Technical
The chassis is rigid, original, and rust-free. The car has been well-maintained by a DeLorean specialist and is in excellent technical condition, ensuring great handling. Major maintenance was performed at the end of 2025, with over €10,000 invested. Replacements included the transmission control module, fuel lines, radiator, cooling fins, tires, front shock absorbers, fuel pump, door seals, and window motors. Many invoices dating back to 2002 are included. The vehicle is completely ready to drive for the next owner.
