One of less than 300 built, this extremely rare right-hand drive 1982 De Tomaso Pantera GT5 is an excellent example of this once-overlooked, but now highly collectable sports car. Powered by a 383-cid V8 engine linked to a five-speed ZF manual transaxle, it combines reliability with Italian design. This particular model underwent an exhaustive 18 month restoration, and as such its black paint, distinctive GT5 bodywork — complete with optional rear wing and spoiler — black interior, gated shifter and Veglia gauges, showing 55,000 km, are all in a show-ready state.
Powered by a more powerful and extremely reliable Chevrolet 383-cid Stroker engine, featuring upgraded Edlebrock RPM heads, Roller rockers and 770 cfm Holley Street Avenger carburettor, this Pantera has the performance and sound to match its stylish appearance. The cooling system (water pump and hoses) has been upgraded throughout, featuring all new stainless steel piping and upgraded electric radiator fan. The road-holding is kept in check by the fully adjustable Alden suspension and glued to the tarmac by the original Campagnolo wheels (15”x10” front and 15”x13” rear), wrapped in brand new, imported Pirelli tyres.
This Pantera has been checked and verified by the International Pantera Registry as an authentic GT5 and features fully documented records of the restoration. It is fully legal and registered in South Africa, ready to be transferred to the owner.
