Grimaldi Classic Cars presents the Abarth 850 TC Nürburgring, a restored 1963 model with an Enna license plate. This vehicle features matching numbers and retains its original engine.
The 1961 Abarth 850 TC was designed as a small sports car suitable for daily use and circuit racing. Carlo Abarth transformed a Fiat 600 into a racing machine that achieved numerous victories, establishing the workshop’s reputation in motorsports. The 850 TC was based on the Fiat 600 D with a 767 cm³ four-cylinder engine, which was increased to 847 cm³ through bore and stroke modifications. It featured a compression ratio of 9.2:1, a high-performance camshaft, a 32 Solex carburetor, a new air filter, a different crankshaft, and a sports exhaust system. This setup allowed the car to reach a top speed of 140 km/h. The braking system was upgraded with disc brakes on the front wheels. Inside, the car was equipped with elegant Jaeger instrumentation and a sporty three-spoke aluminum steering wheel.
The Abarth 850 TC was a successful racing vehicle, winning endurance races such as the 1961 500-kilometer race at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. To commemorate this achievement, a special series called the Fiat Abarth 850 TC Nürburgring was produced.
