Description

The classic Alfa Spider already has the appearance of a modest top actress that everyone admires, in this color scheme you could suddenly fall in love with her. Now an icon in Alfa Romeo's already quite small oeuvre, the Spider. Alfa's name for the equally English-sounding designation Roadster. That stands for 'front engine, rear drive'. And that is precisely what makes the Alfa Spider so characteristic in use. The famous 4-cylinder in-line engine with double overhead camshafts, produced in millions of numbers, with wonderful flexibility and ditto sound, transmits its power to the rear wheels. The straight cut butt, also referred to as 'Coda Tronca', just as characteristically wobbles through bumps in the road. In short, an Italian beauty with a strong character. Not perfect in all respects, that would make it less interesting, but beautiful and offering a lot of driving pleasure. Very limited construction by today's standards, so when one is offered with some comments, you take a look. I can tell you that was not easy. Although the Italian climate is generally favorable to the bodywork of an older Alfa, the car still had some less attractive spots and signs of wear. Not dramatic, then you say thank you politely, but it does lead to a good conversation. After half a day of negotiations, including a hearty Tuscan lunch, there was enough room in the purchase price to restore the car. That's what it ultimately came down to, especially when she stood before me in the less cheerful Dutch light. Under our own supervision and carried out by a real professional, the car was completely stripped bare and thoroughly restored, photos available. A big bill too. The result is impressive, a beautiful Spider in a fantastic color scheme. Beautifully sleek, hard, deeply shiny and, when treated with the right care, will become permanently rust-free. Although the current price does not make the project worthwhile, that lunch was too much fun, I am happy to deliver them to you proudly and in good condition.

EQUIPMENT
An Alfa Romeo had little or no options at that time. This Spider has a beautiful wooden Hellebore steering wheel and a time-correct radio.

EXTERIOR
As previously described, the bodywork has been completely restored. Expertly made and treated rust-free. Very nicely dust-free sprayed in the original color. The spraying was of course carried out after complete disassembly of windows, bumpers and mirrors. New rubbers have been installed where necessary. All fits are nicely symmetrical and the doors fit perfectly to the body. See the photos for the beautiful result.
