Description

Exactly 100, yes, hónderd years old is this unique car. America LaFrance Fire Engine Company was founded in 1903 as a maker of fire engines and related vehicles, with "roots" dating back to the early nineteenth century. A handful of passenger cars were built between 1910 and 1920, none of which are estimated to still exist. Some fire engines were also converted to passenger cars. And so one such special car you can see here. The huge giant listens to the type designation "Type 75" and dates from 1922 and thus celebrates its centenary this year. A formidable piece of history that goes beyond just 'a classic car'. The car involves a conversion from a Type 40 Triple to the already mentioned Type 75. Under the hoods that open on both sides is a gigantic 900 cubic inch (14,500 cc) six-cylinder with a T Head, meaning the valves are on the outside. The hundred-year-old America LaFrance features dual ignition, coil and high-tension magneto. So two spark plugs per cylinder, all for reliability. The colossal engine brings the power, some 100 horsepower, to the rear wheels through an unsynchronized three-speed transmission, via a full bronze differential and steel chains. You want to get the pace back out of the 3,183-kilogram four-seater? You can do that with unpowered brakes on the rear wheels. A fantastic piece of automotive history. The complete restoration took many years. 'Body-off' and 'completely restored' do not really even cover the load because restoring such a car takes an incredible amount of research, craftsmanship, knowledge and skill. The result is impressive. Walking around the car, more and more beautiful details stand out. The accessories of the fireman's past, the formidable clockwork on the dashboard, everything about this car is unique. At the car comes a list of companies that have contributed to the restoration of this car that is enormously long and shows companies from all over the world. In addition, the restorer himself has at least 4500 hours in it, that is only the hours that have been tracked. A book was made of the restoration, which of course comes with the car, as well as invoices and history.A unique opportunity to buy one hundred years of history.
