Here is another extremely rare and important car from the seldom-seen British marque Armstrong Siddeley; this time a Star Sapphire 4 Door Sedan built in 1959. The Armstrong Siddeley Star Sapphire was introduced at the 1958 London Motor Show and won the £4,000 four-door coachwork class at that Earls Court show; ahead of formidable competition we might add!.
This 1959 model is powered by her 4-litre six-cylinder "over-square" engine with inclined o. h. valves operated not by an overhead camshaft but by different length push-rods and rockers. She has a fully automatic gearbox with an ingenious form of "hold" selector, Girling disc brakes on the front wheels and a separate heating and ventilating system for the rear compartment which includes rear-window de-misting.
This car was imported to the US from Canada where it was meticulously restored by an Armstrong Siddeley expert. The deep and rich green paint is stunning and is complemented by her beautiful red leather interior. Over the years she has shown slight wear but we have highlighted any of these areas in the photo gallery.
This Star Sapphires history is not fully known but it was - as described earlier - expertly restored in a great color combination. The walnut dash is also a beautiful feature of this car. The car starts up, runs and drives well, is currently registered and insured and has passed the Massachusetts State inspection when last on the road in 2022. Overall, it is a head-turning example of a rare British marque, sure to draw attention wherever it is seen. We have priced this Star Sapphire to provide the best deal on a car of this caliber and financing can be arranged to qualified buyers through JJ Best Banc.
