Description

What a picture huh? This Aston Martin DB6 stands out because of its beautiful color scheme and superb condition. This example was newly delivered in the United States on February 17, 1967 and is already fully restored. It is a matching numbers car. This specimen was composed by the first owner with taste. The car was ordered ex works with a 3.73:1 limited slip differential, standard air conditioning, chrome wire wheels and seat belts. The DB6 was the successor to the Aston Martin DB5 and was given a longer wheelbase. The main reason for the growth was to increase the interior space. Thanks to its higher roofline, modified rear windows and the “Kamm-tail” with integrated spoiler at the rear, the DB6 was easily distinguishable from the DB5. Thanks mainly to the modified front and rear end, the DB6 was remarkably only 5 centimeters longer than the DB5. However, aluminium panels were still used to keep the weight of the car down. The bodywork is in excellent condition with beautiful thin sheet metal and correct fittings. The paintwork was painted very well during the restoration and is still in very good condition. Even the chrome wire wheels and trim look great and are in very good condition.

The interior is equipped with beautiful red carpets and red leather. The Smiths instruments are all in good condition and function as they should. The three-spoke wooden steering wheel also looks beautiful. The leather is wonderfully supple and has some incipient patina that only adds to the luxurious look of this British Gran Tourer. Because “Gran Touren” that's something this Aston Martin DB6 is perfectly suited for. Thanks to its longer wheelbase compared to its predecessor, the DB5, the car lies better on the road. The Kamm-tail and other body modifications ensure considerably less lift at high speed and as icing on the cake you have access to that wonderfully precise ZF transmission to keep the 282 bhp strong 4.0 litre six-in-line revving. In short, driving this car is an absolute pleasure. The DB6 was already known as a perfect car when it was new in the showroom, with enough space for four people and luggage. Make no mistake the car still has a very sporty handling and was in that period an absolute benchmark car. In that respect, little has changed in the 50+ years since the Aston Martin DB6 still delivers an incredible driving sensation that modern cars simply cannot match. In short not only a beautiful Aston Martin DB6 to see but also a pleasure to drive. The car comes with a folder of documentation. This includes a copy of the original receipt, a printout of the DB6 register and a photo series. Compared to a DB5 perhaps the best bargain of the moment in Aston Martin country.
