The Vantage version of the DB7 was introduced at the 1999 Geneve Salon. Ian Callum who designed the original DB7 was also responsible of the exterior design updates of the Vantage, which gave the car a more masculine look. Also the handling was considerably improved. Traditionally the Vantage versions of Aston Martin models used an upgraded version of the basic model, but on the DB7 the Jaguar-sourced inline six cylinder was replaced by a totally new six litre 420 horsepower V12 developed in co-operation with Cosworth, making the DB7 Vantage the first 12-cylinder Aston Martin in serial production. In 2018 the engine is still used in some models with the same capacity but increased power output.
The Coupé version with manual transmission was the only version of the DB7 Vantage that didn’t have a 265 km/h electronically limited top speed, instead it will reach 296 km/h.
Excellent condition and well documented service and ownership history. Very desirable and collectable version and colour combination.
Bought as a dealer demonstrator in 2000 by an Englishman Mr P Bacon who was living in Milan at the time. He kept it until 2012 when given as part exchange against a newer model, to AM Heritage dealer Nicholas Mee &Co in London. Fully serviced and 12 month warranty issued before sold to Finland.
