Description

Aston Martin DBS Series 1 Coupé, year 1970.
Chassis (VIN) number DBS/5630/R, engine number 400/4672/S. The engine is the original unit, and the colour is as original; matching numbers and colours as stated on the Aston Martin Heritage trust certificate. Colour green metallic combined with a red leather interior and black carpet.
The DBS was the successor of the legendary DB5 and DB6 models and the last Aston Martin to be developed and built under control of David Brown. Like the DB5 the DBS became famous because of James Bond. The DBS featured in the 1969 James Bond movie ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’.
The Aston Martin DBS was intended to be fitted with a V8 engine built by Aston Martin.
Because this engine was not ready in time the first series of DBS cars was fitted with the 3995 cc straight-six engine from the DB6 delivering a healthy 282 bhp.
Other distinguishing Series 1 features are the quad headlamps and the chrome slat grille. This beautifully restored Right Hand Driven example was sold new in the U.K.
After import to the Netherlands the car was extensively restored and overhauled. The restoration started in the year 2016 and was completed recently.
The car has driven about 100 kilometres ever since.
During the restoration the original 3-speed automatic gearbox was exchanged for a Tremec 5-speed manually operated gearbox, and the odometer was exchanged for a version reading in km/h instead of miles.
The leather interior upholstery and the carpet were renewed completely, and a refurbished Radiomobile radio of the original AM type with MP3 connection was fitted. Furthermore, the car is fitted with chrome wire wheels shod with AVON 205-15 tyres.
Only 802 examples of the Aston Martin DBS series 1 were built, these cars are a great piece of Aston Martin and David Brown heritage.
The history of this fine example is largely known, and it comes with a restoration report covering four years. This is a wonderfully restored DBS with the highly desirable and sporty manual gearbox upgrade!
