Description

The Aston Martin V8 Volante and close Vantage are hailed in their time as 'Britains First Supercars'. These versions are the extra powerful versions of the 'normal' V8. Sharper camshafts, higher compression ratio, larger intake valves and larger carburetors mounted on new manifolds made them comparable in straight-line performance even to cars like the Ferrari Daytona. This 'Matching Numbers' V8 Volante reached the end of the production line in the spring of 1982. Painted Ravens Black, it had a 'Natural' interior with matching piping and the first owner also chose the 'Natural' option for the convertible top. The car was completely repainted in the very stylish original color before some time back, so it is in optimal condition. The car was originally delivered in America but drove only 23,000 kilometers there until 2007. A year later the car returned to Europe and was run to European specifications, with the beautiful chrome bumpers and an odometer instead of mileage counter which was set to 0 for that occasion, as the second start to its life. Thus, the car has seen rare little driving, as the odometer now stands at 96 kilometers. This very little use can also be seen in the original interior trim and carpeting, which are in wonderful condition. Both original and clearly showing the condition of the car. The typical 1980s dashboard with all instruments and gauges is also beautiful and fully functional. Where most interiors in cars at that time consisted mainly of black plastic, here leather, stylish glossy wood and chic carpeting has been chosen. Under the hood a 320-hp V8 mated to an automatic transmission, the three-speed Chrysler Torque-flite. The awesome 5,304cc DOHC engine is also the original. The powerhouse does its job formidably and more than evident is the potent character of this hefty V8. Things like the suspension and brakes are also in a condition that is beyond reproach. The steering feels direct and confident. In short: a perfect car if you are in the market for one of the first British supercars with loads of character, power and both the properties to be able to function as a luxury convertible but also as a fast sports car.
